Initially operating under the name of the Atwell Building Company, CPD Group was founded in the early 1970’s by Managing Director James Sweeney. Over the past 30 years CPD Group has gone from a small maintenance contractor to being one of Western Australia’s largest ‘All Trades’ Construction and Building Services Companies. Employing in excess of 100 personnel, CPD Group now caters for the entire building process from pre-start to handover and ongoing maintenance.

With a vision to offer a comprehensive all trades service, CPD Group added construction and refurbishment to its list of services in the early 1980’s. Around the time of this expansion CPD Group began to increase its operations throughout regional and metropolitan Western Australia, quickly establishing a reputation for providing quality services in and honest and professional manner.

In early 2000 CPD Group introduced heritage refurbishment to its list of services. The purpose of this division was to bring specialised knowledge and expertise in refurbishing the original elegance and colonial values of historic structures. Since its introduction, the heritage refurbishment division has undertaken numerous projects throughout metro and regional Western Australia, gaining national accreditation.

In delivering on our foundational values of growth and expansion, CPD Group has continued to make investments into the future of the Building Industry in Western Australia. In January 2006 CPD Group employed there first full time apprentice carpenter and has since continued to employ apprentices in a range of trade areas, such as plumbing, electrical and painting.

Today CPD Group is one of Western Australia’s largest building services and construction companies, catering primarily for non-residential and commercial building projects. CPD are the contractors of choice for several state and federal government departments, as well as numerous large-national corporations. CPD Group will continue to always deliver on their values and vision, by continuing to stay loyal to their people, customers and partners.
